Westview boys win sectional championship

Westview successfully defended its East Noble boys tennis sectional championship Saturday morning in Kendallville with a 3-2 victory over the host Knights in the finals.

The title is the 11th overall for Westview, which will take on Jimtown in the Concord regional Tuesday evening. Concord and Angola square off in the other semifinal bout that same day. The winners of those matches return to Dunlap Wednesday night to vie for the regional crown and a spot in this Saturday’s Homestead semi-state.

Singles players Kurtis Davis and Ryan Barker scored two of the three Warrior points in the clincher with straight-set victories over the East Noble foes. Accounting for the third marker was the No. 2 doubles tandem of Ethan Roth and Justin Schwartz, who also won in two sets.

Westview beat Lakeland and East Noble aced Central Noble by 5-0 counts in the semifinal round Thursday.
