Westview boys soccer team wins a pair

The Westview varsity boys soccer team tuned up for this week’s NECC Tournament by blanking a pair of league opponents over the weekend.

Abdullah bin Abdullah’s hat-trick sparked a 7-0 Warrior romp over host Prairie Heights last Thursday. Michael Bontrager earned assists on each of the bin Abdullah markers, all of which came in the opening half.

Also scoring before the intermission for Westview were Gage Newcomer, Zac Chastain, Jack McCoy and Hunter Sharick. Blake Egli, Yousef Algaradi and Sharick garnered assists on those tallies.

Janson Brandenberger stopped the only Panther shot he faced.

Saturday night in Butler, coach Dennis Berkey’s Warriors sent a message to their first-round tourney foe, Eastside, by dealing the host Blazers a 5-0 pasting. The two squads will meet again in Butler Tuesday.

Josh Hunter’s tally on a penalty kick sparked a three-goal first half for Westview. Bin Abdullah netted the other two markers with Kolten Lewton assisting on the second one.

Isaac Hunter and Bontrager logged Westview goals after the intermission. Earning assists were Josh Hunter and Bailey Hochstetler.

The two wins improved the Warriors to 5-0 in NECC play and to 5-6 overall.
