Westview boys hold off Angola

Elijah Hales buried a jumper at the final buzzer to lift Westview past Angola, 40-38 in a NECC boys basketball thriller played last Friday night in Emma.

The result kept the Warriors perfect at 6-0 and raised their league mark to 3-0 heading into a showdown with county rival Lakeland this Friday. The Lakers are also 3-0 in the NECC.

Angola, which shot 16-26 (62 percent) from the floor for the game, held leads of 16-10 and 24-20 at the initial two period breaks. Westview used a 13-4 scoring edge in the third quarter to take a 33-28 advantage into the final eight minutes.

Hales finished with 13 points and four assists. Warrior teammates Nick Rensberger and Charlie Yoder collected 13 points and six rebounds, respectively.

Jarret Schultz came off the bench to tally a team-high 10 points for Angola, now 3-1 in the conference and 3-3 overall.
