Prairie Heights football team overwhelms Fremont

For the first time in three years, the Prairie Heights football team left the field victorious last Friday night.

Powered by Louie Fraley’s 182 rushing yards and 103 passing yards by quarterback Ethan Hoover, the Panthers whipped Fremont, 45-6 at Hubert Cline Field in Brushy Prairie to snap their 29-game losing streak. Ironically, the previous Heights gridiron victory also came at the expense of the Eagles, 23-6 on October 10, 2014.

Fraley scored one of the five rushing touchdowns for the Panthers in the tilt, while Hoover tallied a couple. Also running to paydirt were Derek Tubbs, Troy Deetz and Malachi Walters.

Hoover completed 8-11 aerials for 103 yards, including a 22-yard scoring strike to Cole Harmes. Jon Messer hauled in three receptions for 17 yards and Fraley nabbed one for 32.

Deetz booted a PAT try and Messer ran in a two-point conversion.

Lucas Waite led the Panther defense with 12 tackles. Messer and Seth Metcalf each made 11 stops. Messer also recovered a Fremont fumble and Ethan German picked off an Eagle pass.

Prairie Heights wraps up its regular season slate with a trip to West Noble this Friday.
