Panther wrestlers whip Warriors

Prairie Heights whipped Westview, 74-6 in a varsity wrestling match held last Thursday.

The Panthers claimed seven of the 14 matches by forfeit. Brandon Baas (106), Blake Hoyer (126), Zane Rowdon (132), Jed Levitz (170), Coye Blodgett (182), Codey Shafer (195) and Troy Deetz (220) were the recipients.

Three Heights grapplers pinned their Warrior foes. Ryan Rasler stuck Bailey Jones at 1:02 in the 145-pound bout, Gage Myers subdued 106-pound opponent Keegan Kohlheim at 2:36 and Rickie Bailer pinned Joey Mullet at 1:23 in the 113-pound match.

Zeke Rowdon forged an 18-3 technical fall win over Lucas Miller at 138. Isiah Levitz beat Marcus Yoder, 8-2 in the 152-pound tilt.

Scoring the lone Westview win of the night was heavyweight Nate Burr, who pinned Jon Messer at 3:37.

The triumph improved the Panthers to 9-0 against NECC competition.

Prairie Heights took second place in the West Noble Super Dual this past Saturday.

The Panthers downed Concord (44-27), White Pigeon (54-24), NorthWood (54-28) and Garrett (35-32) to earn a spot in the championship match. There, they fell to Northridge (33-29).

Coach Brett Smith’s Heights squad stands 31-3 on the season.
