NECC Tournament girls golf results

In just its first year of existence, the Lakeland girls golf team finished second in the annual NECC Tournament held this past Saturday at South Shore Golf Club in Syracuse.

The Lady Lakers, led by All-NECC players Madison Keil and Bailey Hartsough, came in with a team total of 412 strokes, six less than third-place Churubusco (418). Angola claimed the team title with a mark of 372.

Keil fired a 99, going out in 47 shots and coming home in 52. Hartsough carded a 51 on the front side and a 50 on the back to wind up with a round of 101.

Both Keil and Hartsough were among the top 12 individuals in the tournament, each of whom received all-conference status. Two other Lakeland players – Whittney Ray (105) and Sadie Edsall (107) – earned spots on the honorable mention list by finishing in the top 20.

Keirstin Roose (115) was the fifth Lady Laker player in the event.

Maggie McCoy (109) and Jeana Beechy (112) of Westview also earned honorable mention citations. Joining them on that unit was Amelia Johnston (112) of Prairie Heights.

Jaden Cardosa of Fremont took home medalist honors with an 87. Angola leaders Maddie Herman and Lindsay Dornte tied for second place with rounds of 91.

Most of the golfers who took part in the NECC Tournament, including all three LaGrange County squads, will play in the East Noble sectional this Saturday at Cobblestone Golf Club in Kendallville.
