NECC boys golf results

Lakeland’s Presten Mortola fired a one-over par 37 at Noble Hawk Golf Links last Saturday to claim second place at the 2017 NECC boys golf tournament. The event was shortened to nine holes due to inclement weather.

Trey Mayer of Churubusco grabbed individual medalist honors with an even-par 36. Following Mortola with rounds of 38 were Levi Follet of Garrett and Ian Smith of Angola.

Carter Giggy of Westview carded a 39 to nab sixth position and a spot on the All-NECC first team. Giggy’s efforts also led the Warriors to a third-place finish in the team standings with a score of 167. Angola (162) and Fairfield (165) garnered the top two slots.

Markus Miller of Westview shot a 41 to join Mortola and Giggy on the All-NECC unit. Warrior teammates Hunter Klein (43) and Drake Yoder (44) made the honorable mention list.

Tanner Eggers and Christian Roose each fired a 44 to gain honorable mention status. Prairie Heights’ lone entrant, Coye Blodgett, also shot a 44.
