K-Z rezone approved by commission-ers

LaGrange County Commissioners approved a re-zone request for K-Z, Inc. at Monday’s meeting. The 33.75-acres of land is located south and east of the company’s industrial area and was rezoned from agricultural to I-1, which will allow for the outdoor storage of manufactured travel trailers.

The request came from the county plan commission with a positive recommendation. There was discussion about the potential for additional traffic on county roads. County Planner Robbie Miller said, “At issue today is the rezone. Traffic issue will be addressed when a site plan is presented, which must be done before an activity can take place there.”

Miller also said that the company has already started work on their current property that will allow access. An area used as a storm water retention area is being moved.

A nuisance hearing scheduled for Chad Weible regarding property located in the area of 3700N on CR 200E was dismissed as Weible has brought the property into compliance according to Nuisance Officer Don Wismer.

A second nuisance hearing scheduled for Jeremy and Susan Konkle regarding property located on CR 625S near the east county line was recessed until December 18 at 9 a.m.

County Attorney Kurt Bachman reported that the debris had been removed from the property by a group of workers from Prince of Peace Lutheran Church October 21.

Little progress has been made on the dismantling of the mobile home. According to reports, some of the siding has been removed.
