Girls regional track results

Lakeland senior Kloee Fitch earned her fourth straight trip to the IHSAA girls track and field state finals meet Tuesday night in Marion.

Fitch won the regional discus competition for the fourth consecutive campaign at Indiana Wesleyan University with a toss of 133-3 feet. Her nearest competitor was Alicia Tiney-Williams, who flung the iron sphere a length of 122-2 feet.

The Lady Laker standout also clinched her third state berth in the shot put Tuesday with a third-place effort of 39-1.5 feet. Tiney-Williams won the event with a mark of 45-4.5 and East Noble’s Lanie Allen was second with a heave of 42-3.5.

Joining Fitch in Bloomington will be Westview’s Aleka Ernsberger. The freshman sprinter finished second in the regional 400 meters with a time of 57.48 seconds. Breanna Phillips of Fort Wayne Northrop was first in 56.92.

Ernsberger also competed in the 200-meter dash Tuesday night, placing eighth in 27.05 seconds.

The IHSAA girls track state finals are set for Saturday, June 3 at the Robert C. Haugh Complex on the campus of Indiana University. Field events are scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.

Prairie Heights junior Sydney Rathburn also participated in the Marion regional meet Tuesday. Rathburn sailed over the bar at 9-0 feet, tying her for fifth place overall with Izabelle Nelson of Fort Wayne Wayne.

Northrop won its ninth straight regional team championship with a total of 107 points. Homestead finished a distance second with 61 points.
