Farm Bureau members travel to statehouse

Four members of the LaGrange County Farm Bureau, Inc., visited the Indiana Statehouse on Wednesday, Jan. 30. Traveling to Indianapolis were Gavin Fry, Katherine Jennings, Kelsey Younce, and LaGrange County Farm Bureau President John Reffett.

They met with State Representative Denny Zent and State Senator Sue Glick. During the visit, they discussed several topics, including House Bill 1005, which would have merged townships with less than 1,200 people, and the issues that would have emerged if it had passed; broadband internet being a necessity for farms, small business, and, as many schools have implemented E-learning, broadband is needed by students tom complete assigned homework.

They also discussed livestock regulations and expressed their view that current livestock regulatory systems that are in place through IDEM and the OISC are sufficient to address environmental impacts for farms.
