East Noble Invitational wrestling results

Lakeland senior Hayden Gephart won the 160-pound division at the East Noble Invitational wrestling meet Saturday afternoon in Kendallville.

Gephart pinned each of his three foes in the tourney, including Adrien George of Huntington North at 1:27 of their championship bout. The Laker stuck opening-round opponent Nate Dibley of Elkhart Central in just 62 seconds. He then disposed of Westview’s Payton Wire at 1:26 in the semifinals.

Three of Gephart’s teammates placed second in their respective weight classes, helping the Lakers to a fourth-place finish in the final team standings with 176 points. Lakeland’s runner-up trio included Jarrod Curtis (106 pounds), Jadon Miller (138) and Haden Kreider (145).

Curtis pinned Keegan Kohlheim of Westview at 1:50 and earned a 2-0 overtime decision over Brady Lewis of Huntington North to reach the finals. There, he was pinned by Fort Wayne Snider’s Brady Ester.

Miller pinned Michael Kline of Huntington North at 1:24 and Snider’s Reakus Shelton at 5:11 in his initial two bouts. East Noble’s Tanner Stacey edged the Laker in the finals, 8-6.

Kreider garnered a spot in his flight’s deciding match by virtue of a 16-2 major decision win over Matthew Kline of Huntington and a pin of East Noble’s Keaton Honaker at 2:41. Kreider was beaten by Brayden Mudrack of Fort Wayne Northrop, 4-2 in the finals.

Scoring third-place points for Lakeland were Alex Cary (182), Brandon Bergman (195) and Brian Bergman (285).

Marcus Yoder’s runner-up finish in the 152-pound bracket led Westview in the meet. The Warriors wound up with 54 team points.
