Donation provides for free Girl Scout enrollment

Former Topeka resident Daniel Spencer recently made a donation allowing local girls ages 5-18 to join Girl Scouts for free. Spencer believes that this organization is an opportunity for girls to build character, and learn skills that will last a lifetime.

Along with entry into the program and a uniform, the donation also covers the cost of all the volunteers and materials needed and gives girls an opportunity to attend a summer day camp. To take advantage of the summer camp experience, girls must be registered the Friday before they leave for their camp session. Camps run through the end of July.

Girls interested in the regular 2017-2018 season can begin registering now. Spencer's gift allows $180 to go toward each Girl Scout.
