Commissioners approve RFQ for justice bldg.

As recommended by the Technical Recourse Committee (TRC), on Monday morning county commissioners approved a request for qualifications (RFQ) to be used for the county criminal justice building project. The final draft of the RFQ needs to be reviewed by County Attorney Kurt Bachman prior to release for publication, which is set to start Friday, Sept. 8, in the LaGrange News.

The timeline which has been adopted by the TRC calls for proposals to be returned by September 26. TRC members will narrow the RFQ responders down to three, according to a numerical scoring system, and report their findings to commissioners.

The three qualified responders will then submit their preliminary designs and costs for review. TRC members plan to have those packages evaluated and passed on to county commissioners by November 2, which will allow for the selection of a design/builder before the end of the year.

The building is scheduled for construction beginning in the spring of 2018.
