Chamber hosts second annual new teacher tour

The LaGrange County Chamber of Commerce recognizes the importance of educating students for the workforce demands of the 21st century, and it demonstrates that awareness by inviting all new teachers who are new to Lakeland, Westview, Prairie Heights and Howe Military Academy to participate in the New Teacher Tour.

This year the Chamber of Commerce entertained 14 new teachers for the 2nd Annual New Teacher Tour.

This year’s tour was held on Tuesday, Aug. 8, and encompassed 47 miles of LaGrange County with Chamber Director Beth Sherman pointing out businesses and points of interest along the way.

Each new teacher received a complimentary meal at the Blue Gate courtesy of the Chamber of Commerce and then took a stroll around downtown Shipshewana and was given a complimentary ride on the Davis Mercantile carousel, thanks to owner Alvin Miller.

The Annual New Teacher Tour provides an exceptional opportunity for Chamber members to show their corporate spirit in welcoming new teachers to LaGrange County. The LaGrange County Chamber of Commerce is proud to host this event and is welcoming sponsors for next year’s event.
